The horsemen live?

Last year the original Darksiders publishers, THQ, closed their doors for good. After the closure of this once industry giant they proceeded to sell off their intellectual properties. One of those was the Darkisders IP, which was sold to Nordic games. The Darksiders franchise is one of the best action/adventure franchise currently available. It incorporates game-play norms from other great franchise like Zelda and God of War and meshes them together with it’s own style to make a wonderful product, so it was especially sad when no word was heard about a sequel of the 2nd game in the franchise.

Today I have gotten news that the series is not dead and the 3rd game could already be in the works. Now this does not necessarily mean that their is a working title already as it could just be in the concept stage but this is good news all the same. The news about a possible 3rd game in the series comes from none other than the creative director of the first 2 games, Joe Madureira, who was responding to questions on from fans on his facebook fanpage. He hinted to be that the new owners of the IP are committed to continuing the series and that hopefully they will have some news about the topic in the future. I’d expect to hear some mention, if any, of any possible sequel during this years E3 this coming June.

    1. I did’t mind them so much, but i can see how others may not like them. what really draws me into Darksiders games is the lore of the horsemen. I just what to see all four of them lol.

  1. This is really heart-warming; the second biggest worry I had when watching THQ fall was the death of it’s unfinished franchise. The first being the separation of the collective individuals that came together to create really amazing worlds.

They were nothing really ground-breaking, and like what The Otaku Judge said; there’s a lot of jumping and puzzles and could possibly annoy you.

But in the midst of that, you can see that the games were a labour of love. It’s good to see that the Darksiders franchise would see a rebirth, and I am optimistically awaiting its rebirth. 🙂

    1. I think it’s more of a continuation under a new studio with maybe some of the original crew that were at THQ. PS i felt the same way when I heard the news that THQ was going under. In my mind I was like “please let some one good buy the DS franchise and continue”.
