Shadow Realms: a Fable Legend clone or something more?
Would you believe me if I said that Bioware, the guys behind epic RPGs like Mass Effect and Dragon age are now working on a title that seems pretty similar to Fable Legends? This new IP called Shadow Realms is an online action RPG that uses the 4V1 game type gameplay we first saw at E3 earlier this year, but in another game, Fable Legends. Bioware say that the game will be story driven, but I’m not sure how an RPG style story works with online multiplayer. It’s not an MMO and the opposing factor is not a scripted AI but actually another player. I am however curious to see how this all plays and if the story will actually be any good.
They have labelled it as an episodic narrative which gives me Teltale walking dead feeling. Shadow Realms is said to be rooted in the Pen and Paper RPG style that table top experts should find familiar, but covered in some oh so new innovations that have not been done before.
The Plot: In Shadow Realms, Modern Heroes on Earth are being awakened and recruited, because of magical powers they never knew they had, to fight in a new and dangerous war against the Shadow Legions of Embra. The Shadow Legions, who have been battling on Embra for years against the members of the Radiant Empires, have gained new strength with the coming of a powerful, unknown force that we call the Shadowlords. And, they have just figured out how to leave Embra and invade Earth.
