Buttonsmashers Game of the year 2014

2014 has been a bit of a disappointing year for most gamers and that is because this year we were expecting to be treated to a year full of high quality next generation titles thanks to the Xbox one and PS4’s capabilities. These new systems boasted some amazing possibilities and so did the developers making games for them. Games like Watch Dogs for example were advertised to be amazing, awe inspiring and deep, but ultimately turned out to be shallow shells of their E3 trailers. Developers promised so much that when it was time to deliver they were unable to follow through with all those promises. However out of the thousands of games released this year there were some that amazed us, some that reminded us about why we are gamers, some that delivered. This is Buttonsmashers Game of the yea article. Some of our gaming editors have chosen 5 games that were released in 2014 that he or she enjoyed more so than the rest. The game that was on the most editors lists. Will be crowned Buttonsmashers Game of the Year 2014.

Buttonsmashers Game of the Year 2014 is:

Super Smash Bros Wii U/ 3DS

Smash Bros was released on both the 3DS and Wii U in the latter half of this year. It was one of the very few games that was not much of a disappointment to those that wanted it and for those like me that didn’t have much interest at first it wowed. Smash Bros is one of those games that is best played on the couch with a group of close friends, but this iteration also included the ability to play online, and though the online aspect will never come close to what the couch experience is like it is very much welcomed. The little time I had with the game I had no bugs, errors, online Lag or any of the other crap that we have come to expect in modern games. This is old school Nintendo at its best. The game also surprisingly runs smooth on both the Wii U and 3DS. Of the two versions of the game the 3DS version is by far the most surprising. It is just amazing just how much can and was fitted into the handheld’s game card.

Smash Bros is one of those games that anyone can pick up and play no matter their age, or gaming experience and have loads of fun. So if you have space on your holiday shopping list and have not gotten either version of this gem you should consider getting yourself a copy.

  1. Take my list with a grain of salt as I only had a few hours with each of these games since I’m usually always a year behind once I finally play most games and expect to see my reviews at a later date.

      1. My 2DS is a year and 1 month old. Super Smash Bros for the 3DS has been out just over 2 months now but it’s already my second most played game based on the Activity Log. So I’m happy you guys picked this game as your GOTY.
