3DS sales up by nearly 80 percent

3DS sales up

It’s no secret that quite a few members of our editorial family here on The Buttonsmashers are huge fans of Nintendo games. Tim already has the new 3DS and is enjoying Xenoblade, chronicles, Zach has numerous Nintendo platforms, as they refer to Zelda of course, and Jess bought herself a special 3DS just for Zelda. As such it seems that we have single handily helped Nintendo increase their hardware sales by 60 percent.

Ok I’m just kidding about the single hand thing.

Nintendo did however report an increase in hardware sales by nearly 60 percent so far for this year when compared to the same period last year. This increase is great news for Nintendo as it means that the big N should be able to keep up the interest in their hardware for the rest of 2015 thanks to releases like Xenoblade Chronicles 3D and the soon to be released Splatoon.

These are some of the sales figures so far for 2015:

3DS

  • Total hardware sales in 2015 have increased by nearly 80 percent over sales during the first three months of 2014.

Wii U

  • Total hardware sales in 2015 have increased by more than 20 percent over sales during the first three months of 2014.
  • Mario Party 10 launched on March 20 and sold nearly 290,000 total units in its first two weeks.
  • Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and Mario Kart 8 continue to sell well in their respective fifth and 11th months on the market, bringing their lifetime totals to nearly 1.6 million total units and more than 1.9 million total units, respectively.

So what was your last game you bought for a Nintendo platform? Let us know in the comment section below.
