“Mega Man II” (GB) — Mega from the Future?!

When it comes to the five main entries in the Mega Man franchise on the Game Boy, Mega Man II is probably a least favorite amongst fans. Sure, it offered eight full robot masters, a new Mega Man Killer (Quint), and had okay level design, but it had its share of downsides too. The game was relatively short despite the extra stages, it was quite easy (weapons seem to affect the bosses more here than in the NES in many instances), and the music as-is is very high-pitched and annoying to many. Also, Quint is a strange, forgettable boss, despite the fact that the manual claims that he is a future version of Mega Man that Wily has reprogrammed to face his contemporary self (though why Wily made him a strange robot that fights with a pogo stick is beyond me and most fans).

Interestingly, though, the music for this game isn’t that bad once dropped an octave or two and, in fact, there are several great remixes of these songs available on YouTube.

Anyway, I do hope you enjoy this quick runthrough of the game and stay tuned – it will serve as a great lead-in to an upcoming play of a fantastic fan-game called Quint’s Revenge!
