Grand Finale of “Ys IV: Mask of the Sun!!”

After a long journey that has taken us from Esteria to Promolock and then deep into the forests of Celceta in search of ancient mysteries and restoring peace to a broken land, our journey in Ys IV: Mask of the Sun is finally drawing to a close!

Last time, we got deep within the Silver Citadel – an ancient city of a lost race to which Lord Eldeel was believed to be the final survivor of (though we do know better now). We finally entered the Tower of Iris, and now, after having ground our way up to level 31 (the game’s cap), we head to the upper floors to take on Garuda’s henchmen. Bami falls pretty quickly and gains us access to the upper floors, where we locate the game’s most powerful sword and equipment: The Defensor, Reflector, and the Radiance Sword. The top of the tower brings us to an area where we can jump down to the deepest part of the temple and confront Garuda and Eldeel directly.

Sadly, though the equipment we pick up maxes out the rest of our stats, it’s really only good for the final round of enemies at the top of the tower and the battle with Garuda himself. Eldeel is immune to anything other than the Hero’s Sword (and I think you take extra damage if you don’t have the Armor and Shield equipped), so we must use that in the final battle.

How does it all wrap up? You’ll have to watch to find out! Yet, rest assured that the ending leads in very well to Ys: The Oath in Felghana, which I’ll be playing through next!

This video was done without any commentary, which I know is different if you are used to my video style, but I think it worked out just fine. Still, I do find that I enjoy providing commentary while playing, so it won’t be the norm by any means, just something that is done here and there depending on my needs or situation while recording. 🙂

If you missed any of the other episodes in this series, you can find them on this playlist! 🙂
