God of War 4 Concept Art Leaked

It’s been six years since a proper chapter in Sony’s exclusive God of War series (no, remasters and Ascension don’t count!). It’s been a safe bet that we will see a return of the angry Kratos and his violent rampage across epic landscapes against mythical foes on the PlayStation 4 soon. While Sony has yet to announce God of War 4 officially, some recent leaked pictures seem to hint that the wait may not be much longer, and also that the next game may take a departure from Greek mythology, and possibly even from Kratos himself.

A few days ago, industry insider “shinobi602” teased that God of War 4 might be set in Norse mythology, and that caused website NerdLeaks.com to do some digging at a Sony Santa Monica artist’s personal website. They posted several images they obtained, but this apparently incurred the wrath of the gods, because not only did that post disappear, but the entire site has been wiped from the internet. Mere mortals take great risks when they try to expose the secrets of the gods! Fortunately, users at gamer forum NeoGaf saved captures of the images. So, now you know how we got these tantalizing glimpses, but what do they show?

Here we see a character similar to Kratos, but he is sporting a short beard, wearing Norse-style leggings and wielding a short axe. Is this still Kratos, adapting to the local environment, or a new, similar character? Speaking of environments, check the gallery below for a representation of Bifröst Rainbow Bridge, as well as some very Norse looking architecture and lush forest scenery. What do you think of these leaked pictures? Would you be excited to play as Kratos and explore mythologies other than those found in  ancient Greece? Are there other mythologies you would like to see Kratos chop his way through? Let us know in the comments, and stay tuned to theButtonSmashers.com, where we will cover any new announcements regarding God of War 4.
