Preventing the Deluge at last in “Blood Knights!”

It’s been an interesting journey for me with Blood Knights. On the one hand, I think Deck 13 did a respectable job with the game, coming up with a pretty interesting story and working in some good gameplay with it, but on the other hand the game was rather short (3-4 hours of play time?), the voice acting was often quite questionable, and the bosses were overly-easy most of the time. But, at the end of the day, it’s the type of game that if you get it for a good price, or you are really into action-RPGs, you’ll likely walk away having had a nice time with this one.

The final chapter of the game is pretty short. Things ultimately end where they began, at a temple somewhere in the Middle East. Here, we confront the true villains of the game (the Church), and fight with the Paladin in an effort to prevent them from using the Blood Seal to create a massive flood that would destroy a lot of the world, yet renew people’s faith in the Church in their time of need. It’s a twisted plot that maybe is a bit heavy-handed, but it also does cause you to reflect on it a bit, and that’s not a bad thing. We also run into Castello again, with no explanation of how he survived the fall off of the cliff outside Pikehold Castle, but in the end, we prove victorious and set the world on a path to recovery.

Sadly, there’s no audio commentary in this video, mainly because I had updated the sound driver and that caused some default settings to change in my recording program, so it wasn’t picking anything up off my mic. Yet, this isn’t the worst thing of all, as it’s not terrible to have some raw gameplay now and then either. Also, there’s no way I could go back and retrieve it as the game auto-saves for you, so there’s no quickly reverting the save file.
