PlayStation Plus free games for June 2016

Summer is here, but who wants to play outside when PlayStation Plus gives us 6 new games to play? PlayStation Plus offers a great variety of gaming fun for June; experience a big budget sports title NBA 2k16, thrill to episodic horror story Siren: Blood Curse, or wander the abandoned halls in Gone Home.

NBA 2K16 (PS4)

The NBA 2K franchise is back , featuring an all-new MyCAREER experience written, directed and produced by acclaimed filmmaker Spike Lee. Guide your MyPLAYER through the complete NBA journey, take control of an entire NBA franchise, or hone your skills online competing against gamers from around the world. With animations that provide smoother movement and more realistic articulation, and a unique cover design featuring NBA stars Stephen Curry, Anthony Davis and James Harden, it’s certain to be the most authentic NBA gaming experience yet.

Gone Home (PS4)

Here is an excerpt from a review for the PC version I wrote before I joined TheButtonSmashers.com team:

Gone Home begins with Kate returning from a European vacation to a creepy old house in the Pacific Northwest. The wind and rain howl outside, and the lights flicker occasionally. No one seems to be home. As Kate, you navigate through the halls and rooms, clicking open drawers and doors. You will discover much about your absent family, and even the original owner of the house, while exploring every nook and scrap you come across. The story unfolds at a very satisfying pace, and I really enjoyed Gone Home’s environmental storytelling.

If you ever spent an afternoon in your grandparent’s attic going through old boxes, peeking into a life you never knew they had, this is the game for you. If you want a first person adventure that isn’t about shooting people in the face, this game is for you. If you haven’t played a video game in a long time, and want a slow paced game with simple controls, this game is for you. If you have felt the pleasantly hot sting of your first love, and felt no one understood you, this game is for you.

Echochrome (PS3)

Featuring an elegant black and white art design inspired by the works of M.C. Escher, echochrome is a puzzle game unlike any other. With gameplay based on optical illusions, players must utilize five simple laws of perspective to join walkways, hide dangers, and create new paths to reach the “echos,” or shadow guides. Once you’ve mastered the five laws, use them to create your own mind-bending levels to play and share with friends using the custom level editor.

Siren: Blood Curse (Episodes 1-12) (PS3)

An American TV crew has arrived in Japan to film an expose on the legend of the “vanished village” only to find themselves caught in a deadly series of events. Controlling seven different playable characters, the player must uncover the mystery behind the curse that grips the eerie village of Hanuda. Intense graphics, realistic character animation and a gritty film-like graphical presentation add to the horror of Siren: Blood Curse.

God of War: Chains of Olympus (PSP/PS Vita)

Another portable God of War game? That’s two months in a row now…if I was conspiracy minded, I might think PlayStation has something big to announce soon.

Little Deviants (PS Vita)

This collection of colorful mini games shows off the many different features built into the Vita. You’ll use the microphone, front and rear cameras, front and rear touch, and six-axis motion controls on madcap adventures with Little Deviants.

Which games are you looking forward to playing? Please let me know in the comments! As always, you can hear more about my thoughts on these and other games on my weekly podcast, Plug and Play.
