Our Visit To Andromeda Is Just A Couple Months Away!

I’ve been meaning to write more about this particular title since November 7th, but I’ve been so preoccupied that finding the time to write something constructive was almost impossible. Yes, I could have hashed out some half baked editorial; however, I could do that in good continence to a series that I adore as much as Mass Effect.

Anywho I have the time now, so lets see what we missed

Beginning with the last bit of details we got from Bioware about the game. We got a few re-imagined artwork of both the Ryder siblings (the protagonists), a couple human characters……………………. Yeah I know you’re just as underwhelmed as me. I mean who plays a ME game for the humans? SHOW ME ALIENS!

Just kidding, sorta

Anywho, that’s what we got so I’ll share it here:

So who are the Ryder Siblings?

Scott and Sara Ryder are the default names for the protagonist options in Mass Effect: Andromeda. These two characters are the children of Alec Ryder, an N7 special forces soldier. Who ever you choose will be designated as a Pathfinder, an operative tasked with discovering new planets for the Human species to colonize. After choosing one of the two siblings you’ll have the option to alter their look and name if you wish to do so.

The siblings will be tasked with explore an open world galaxy aboard a starship called Tempest, exploring plants,  discovering new technology, and meeting new species. Andromeda takes place 600 years after the events of the first three Mass Effect games, in the Andromeda Galaxy.

Among numerous other update, we’ll be getting a new Galaxy Map. The new Galaxy Map will allow you to be able to navigate from one system to another in the Tempest and scan planets for resources. You’ll encounter locations like the bustling outlaw home world of Kadara Port, a planet where battles between different factions are commonplace. The included video highlights one of these such confrontations, in which a group of outlaws are entrenched in battle and the Pathfinder is presented with an opportunity to engage or ignore the skirmish entirely.

As the Pathfinder, you’ll be able to call down Forward Stations to change up your weapon loadouts, alter squad composition, fast-travel to other locations, and discover nearby resources and details about surrounding regions. You’ll chart courses to hazardous environments and fight hostile wildlife. You’ll traverse across dangerous worlds, using your scanner to discover clues about your mission locations.

The game also has a number of features with which you’ll want to become familiar as Mass Effect: Andromeda’s Pathfinder. You’ll encounter entirely new alien races such as the Kett, and will grow to rely on companions like Vetra and Drack, seen in the video. Leading your squad through beautiful-yet-deadly worlds, you’ll progress your Pathfinder with a deeply customizable character system, crafting, and a host of new weapons, powers, and gear. And of course, you’ll develop lasting relationships with your companions forged from a long and perilous journey through space.

So far we know quite a lot of details about the game, but as any ME fan should know. This is just scratching the surface. Mass Effect Andromeda promises to be the biggest, most epic entry in the franchise. Lets all hope that it is able to meet that goal and then some.

Mass Effect: Andromeda is set to launch in Spring 2017. We’ll update you as soon as we have more details about this and any other Mass Effect related news.

  1. I’m expecting this to be delayed again till later in the year. Much like every other game i’ve been waiting for patiently (looking at you P5!!)

    1. Not likely, I think Bioware have proven that they can get a game out on time by now. Feb/March is usually their release window for ME games
