We here at The Buttonsmashers are pretty big fans of the Senran Kagura series, so we always take the time to look out for any kind of announcement and movements like some sort of obsessed girlfriend. In addition, we talk about Senran Kagura constantly on our ecchi podcast called Ecchicast, in which we were already making predictions on Estival Versus making it to the PC platform, basing ourselves on the recent pattern of older games in the series hitting Steam.
And now, we are happy to say that our predictions were true. There has been an official announcement today via an XSEED press release saying that the PS4/PS Vita brawler will be hitting PC through Steam, similar to Shinovi Versus and Bon Appetit, which came out last year. What makes this even better is that the long awaited Ikki Tousen character DLC that never made it in the US will finally be available for purchase on all platforms.
What made those games special from their previous release was that all the DLC was already included in the PC version, but due to the fact that Estival Versus is a relatively recent release, it is still unclear whether the DLC from that game will be included, especially when considering that the Ikki Tousen characters will have to be purchased separately.
The game is slated to release this March, which is the same month as the Japanese release of Peach Beach Splash, the SK series’ most recent game that takes on the 3rd person shooter genre. That game still doesn’t have a North American release date, so it seems that the PC release of Estival Versus serves as a good way to make time as we wait for Peach Beach Splash to eventually come to the west. Either way, I’m excited on all fronts!
