Nintendo Switch Launches Today, But You’re Not Likely To Get One

Today marks the launch of another Nintendo console/handheld. The Nintendo Switch is basically whatever you want it to be, and then some. For those that have been living under a proverbial rock for the past couple months, The Switch is a new hybrid console developed by Nintendo. It uses a large touch screen when playing in handheld mode, and an overpriced dock to connect it to a tele.

Common Nintendo, that thing is not worth $90 USD

Overpriced plastic accessories aside, Nintendo have a really great product on their hands this time around, and we’re really hoping it can break the curse that the Wii U suffered from. They have promised more third party support this time around, something they promised with the Wii U too, and this time we believe they won’t let us down. This time there is no confusing with the name, the system is capable enough, and runs on a similar enough architecture to the other three main platforms in the market. The Switch also has an edge on it’s competitors with one of the it’s strongest titles shipping with the system at launch, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. This game alone will drive sales in, and with the lineup of upcoming titles heading to the system, it’s very likely that sales for the Switch will surpass every other platform in the market.

So where can you get one of these amazing new gaming platforms?

Well, if you don’t already have one on pre-order you’re out of luck. Based on past Nintendo launches for hardware, we’re speculating that you’ll need to get a time machine, and travel at-least 9 or so months into the future to get one. Jokes aside, it’s likely that the system will be available again later this year, but very likely in limited supply. If you have the ability to set your accounts on any online retailer’s website to notify you when they’re available, then do it.

….And with that we wish Nintendo the best of luck with this new system, NOW BRING ON THE GAMES!

  1. I don’t really see the console taking off tbh. The price of it is insane here in the uk, if you need to buy the accessories, and even the minimum pushes it to a pretty high price.

Sadly it doesn’t even come close to the PS4 Pro or the One S, and has several minor issues both in the hardware and the construction of the device.

Breath of the Wild is a good game, but it’s not a system seller, purely because its on the Wii U as well. At the moment there’s no reason to upgrade from the Wii U to the Switch, and a load of reasons to take a wait and see approach. Right now my money is on the Switch going the route of the Wii U, into obscurity.
