Team 17 offers something exciting for almost any type of gamer

One of my last stops at PAX West was to the lushly appointed Team 17 booth. Everyone was having fun here; some gamers were sprawled in bean bags playing The Escapists 2 together, while others with more serious expressions and headsets on were engaged intently with Sword Legacy: Omen or Genesis: Alpha One. The award for most adorable line at PAX had to go to the cosplaying little kids queued up to play Yoku’s Island Express.

The Escapists 2

Building on their popular first game, Team 17 added a huge feature to The Escapists 2: Drop in drop out multiplayer both online and local. I can confirm that dropping in and out works seamlessly, and the game adapts the prison escape requirements based on how many are playing. That isn’t all of the new feautures though! Check out our interview with community manager Karl Pedersen as he discusses the exciting new stages available in The Escapists 2!

Genesis: Alpha One

Part first person alien shooter, part spaceship management sim, this game had a lot going on!
After Earth is  ravaged by war, pollution and over-exploitation of resources, humanity’s
hope lies with the Genesis Program and the promise of a new home. As the Captain of a Genesis star
ship, you journey into uncharted space on this ultimate mission and you must create a crew capable
of fighting the alien infestations that threaten it. Using your clone crew, you assign individuals on away missions to gather resources, build new modules on your space vessel, and then man them. Aliens often hitch a ride back from away missions, and you must hunt them down in your ship before they nest and create huge problems. Take DNA from the aliens that you encounter and splice it with your crew members to give them new abilities and a better chance to prosper within a hostile galaxy.

One is heading to Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC in 2018.

Sword Legacy: Omen

This tactical combat game looked like it was illustrated by Disney, if Disney had done a story about king Arthur’s dad set in plague ridden England with piles of bodies everywhere. Definitely a unique look!

As Uther Pendragon you will embark on an epic journey through Broken Britannia to avenge your
fallen lord and recover the long-lost sword, Excalibur. Fight alongside a rag tag band of unlikely
heroes to defeat your enemies in tense, turn-based tactical combat. Crush your enemies’ willpower
and watch them flee the battlefield or even turn on their comrades. Use the environment to your
advantage, moving your heroes into cover and setting the enemy ablaze with explosive barrels
before finishing them off with brutal, visceral overkill moves.

Sword Legacy: Omen is heading to PC in 2017.

Yoku’s Island Express

This game was the most casual of the bunch that I played, with an art style that reminded me of Banjo -Kazooie. That doesn’t mean that it was easy, though! Bouncing
Yoku, the pint-sized  dung beetle postman protagonist of Yoku’s Island Express around very colorful stages was a lot of fun! Using a unique blend of pinball mechanics, platforming and open world exploration, the player unlocks the secrets of Mokumana Island, helps the locals, awakens ancient deities and much more in this amazing tropical adventure!

Yoku’s Island Express is rolling onto Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch™ and PC in 2018.

As you can see, Team 17 Digital has a lot of exciting games either out now or soon to be released. Which are you looking forward to playing?
