PokéMon Holds Nothing Back for its 20th Anniversary
Just in time for the 20th anniversary, Pokémon is celebrating in several different ways. With films, manga, hand-held consoles, apps, and new upcoming game announcements… Pokémon is celebrating with a super-effective move.
The hype around Pokémon has been one that has never eased or dwindled. So for this year, Pokémon and all the companies that celebrate it, are spoiling fans with plenty of material for their 20th anniversary. Announced early 2016, the new limited edition Pokémon Red and Blue DS will be released tomorrow (February 27th, 2016). It is a new 3DS featuring two face plates featuring original artwork from the two games that started it all: Pokémon Red and Pokémon Blue. Preorders began mid-January and fans everywhere were eager to partake. The game includes complimentary free versions of Red and Blue.
Even before that, Pokémon announced a new mobile game called Pokémon GO that will be featured on iOS and Android devices that work with real time and location to capture and battle Pokémon. The game has been in the works for a while and the entertaining trailer can be viewed below.
Also as a Mobile perk, Pokémon released a fun photo-editor app for mobile devices. Users can capture or edit photos with Pokémon themed filters, borders and stickers. 
Due to a leak of logo art, Pokémon also announced that two new games will be released before the Holiday season of 2016: Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon. These two new titles will feature brand new Pokémon, a new story and a whole new battling system. Not much other than that has been released, view the nostalgic and heart-warming trailer.
And finally, Viz Media announced that Pokémon will be releasing a new film on DVD and Manga adaptation in March of 2016. Pokémon The Movie: Hoop and the Clash of Ages will be set for manga release on March 1st and will be set at a price of $9.99 USD. The DVD will be available March 8th, and is set at a price of $19.97 USD.

It is safe to say that Nintendo, GameFreak and all other partaking companies are giving PokeMon the anniversary it deserves. For being one of the most celebrated JRPGs of our generation, it isn’t a wonder why so much is in the works.
