Grand Tour Episode 1 | Waw… They, Are, Back!

I’m writing this immediately after watching the first episode of the new car enthusiast show hosted by Jeremy Clarkson, James May and Richard Hammond on Amazon Video, and….

WAW…

WAW…

My words cannot truly describe what I just watched, but I’ll try to come as close as I possibly can.

OK, time check: 12:06AM (19/11/16). Location, Trinidad (Trinidad & Tobago, Caribbean, The Earth, The Milky Way, The Universe).

Exhale….

So let’s talk about Grand Tour episode 1. The episode begins with a sort of skit about Jeremy following his situation with BBC, and Top Gear, the series that they previously hosted. In the skit we see him leaving the UK and flying to the US, then almost depressingly getting into a Mustang, then driving out to what seems to be the middle of nowhere. It all seemed to be a bit melodramatic at that point, and I honestly wasn’t sure what to expect going further into the episode, but then we had May and Hammond join alongside Clarkson in two other cars as they drove through, again, what seems to be the middle of nowhere. More cars join in till eventually they then end up at a crowded concert. All the while I’m wondering to myself, “is this what Grand Tour is gonna be?” Three blokes live on a stage talking about cars in the middle of nowhere? Nope, I don’t like it, It’s not what I signed up for. I want the original crew going on ridiculous trips to outrageous locations with expensive cars, all the while giving us the viewers, lots and lots of banter…..

Skip a couple moments into the show and they leave the stage to enter a tent, and that’s where all the magic starts happening.

The Top Gear crew are so back… “Cough, sorry”… I mean the Grand Tour crew. As soon as they entered the tent, it was as if they had not missed a single beat from the way they were accustomed to doing their previous show. It’s all here… well sort of…

The show doesn’t have a Stig, it has an American, “communist” (gotta remember to get that on a t-shirt), it has no star in a reasonably priced car.. It has … well let’s just say it had some stars, and the new test track, is an old death trap, but all in all in it’s essence, the spirit of the old Top Gear lives on through this new Grand Tour. It’s everything a Top Gear fan could want and then some. I kid you not, I couldn’t stop laughing from the beginning till the end of the episode. Every moment, every scene, every bit. They’re all well crafted and timed to perfection.  Oh, and most of all there are cars, expensive, powerful, majestic cars. What else could you want. Grand Tour is a smash hit and you should be watching it.

Whoa… hold up, this is just the first episode. For all we know the second episode could be a load of poo and the third could be more poo than that. Let’s just say the first episode is a smash hit, and we’re excited for what this could potentially come out of the upcoming episodes.
