30-DAY ANIME CHALLENGE! (DAY 16): Anime with the Best Animation

DAY 16:  Anime with the Best Animation

Again?

I should really make a note to myself:  tell whoever made this list to stop absolutes such as “best”.

Because it is my belief that there is now “best”.  There are a lot of GOOD anime out there with GOOD animation, but there isn’t one defining “BEST”.

Anyways, hello again, this is where the halfway point of my challenge continues, and I am almost certain that I am developing some kind of stress-related illness as a result of constantly making articles every single day.

But here I am, and I intend to continue on until the end.

Now, for my favorite anime based on animation, there can only be ONE show worthy of that title.

And that, of course, is none other than:

Ping Pong the Animation

AND THERE IT IS HELL YEAH BABYYYYYYYYYY OF COURSE IT’S PING PONG THE ANIMATION YOU THOUGHT I WAS KIDDING WELL I AIN’T HERE IT IS THE ANIME WITH THE BESTEST AWESOMEST RADICALLESSST ANIMATION EVAAARSSSSS WHOOOOOOOOOO!

*ahem*

Sorry, I had to do it.

Honestly………..

Now, for my REAL favorite animation-based show, I actually have two of them, and my logic for both of them are essentially the same:

Cowboy Bebop & Ghost in the Shell:  Stand Alone Complex

I can hear everyone’s cries of hate and anguish again.

Seriously, there’s just no satisfying you guys, eh?

Ok, lemme explain.  I know you guys are saying, “But Kenj, you young anime god you, why would you choose these two over ANYTHING that came out in recent years, like Madoka Magica or Steins;Gate or K-On?”, and while I do agree that there are a lot of shows that came out over the past 8 or so years with exceptional levels of animation, I feel that these two shows trumps them all in one certain respect:

It’s that their style of animation will not falter over time.

Both of these shows were giants and innovators during their respective lifetimes, Bebop being a show of the ’90’s and GITS:  SAC (odd acronym for a show….) being an anime released on 2 seasons over the course of 2002 to 2005.

And yet both of these shows have animations that EXCEED everything that came with them.

Cowboy Bebop, in particular, was an anime that still stuck to the classic hand-drawn style of animation over the more advanced digital style that a lot of shows in the ’90’s have adopted since, and yet it still comes out as amazing (if not better) and as fluid as something made on a computer.  That is an impressive feat, considering all the work that the animators would have to do to animate such and action-oriented show, and yet Bebop was able to provide us with stellar animation that went hand in hand with the show and proved just how timeless it can be.

GITS:  SAC, on the other hand, was simply an amazingly animated show not only for its time, but also in comparison to almost EVERY anime that came out recently.  You can show this anime to someone who doesn’t know when it was released and they would think that it was just produced maybe only a few years back or even only recently.  This anime essentially foreshadowed all the fantastic things that Production I.G. would produce in the future, and whenever I watch Attack on Titan, Guilty Crown, and Death Note (all produced by I.G.), I would always look back and remember how they made an anime in 2002 that looks just as beautiful as these shows.

I mean look at this gif and say it’s from 2002:

Of course, everyone has their own opinion as to which anime they think is the “best” in terms of animation.  If you feel differently about my opinion, which you shouldn’t, but if you do, then please comment down below.

See you guys in Day 17!
