One Piece Burning Blood coming to Steam

One Piece Burning blood

It’s not secret that I am probably the biggest One Piece fan among our editorial team, sorry Adrian, and I’m sure many of you have been wondering when I’d write an article on this title given that numerous other news outlets have already done so. Well rest at ease with the knowledge that I am still a huge One Piece fan, and I’ve actually been accumulating as much information on the game as possible before doing my first article of it.

One Piece Burning Blood follows events from the popular manga/ anime series and pits a huge cast of characters against each other. Similar to the Grand Battle! series, One Piece: Burning Blood is a 1-on-1 fighting game, featuring 3v3 melee style fights, where each player picks a team of 3 characters. The player can switch between characters during battle and use partners for assist attacks. It will focus on fighting and devil fruit abilities. Logia users will be able to use their powers to avoid damage, but this can be countered by opponent that use haki.

The game will also feature a support character system which will allow the player to select characters to be part of the their pirate crew, these support characters can then be called in during battle to help out mid-match including restoring HP as well as other character-specific unique abilities.

Some of the support characters that have already been officially announced include:

  • Bepo
  • Kureha
  • Dadan
  • Karoo
  • Laboon
  • Square Sisters

Bandai Namco have also released a couple updates of the game over the past few months, one of which shows Luffy using 4th gear, a form of the character that has until now not been in any other One Piece game.
