PlayStation 5 Underwhelming Showcase
Microsoft give their Xbox Series X/S presentation to announce price and release date last week and today was Sony’s turn. It was supposed to be the grand presentation for the PlayStation 5 but instead we got a price with zero incentive.
Now of course we have the platform fanboys who buy according to brand. They’ll purchase their console of choice, *cough* I mean they accept what they are given. Sony give a presentation showing games we’ve already seen and yet people are excited. They’ve shown off the PS Plus Collection with games most PS4 owners already own and yet people are hyped.
WHY?
Maybe I’m old, maybe I’m out of touch but I doubt that. What’s more likely is that I’m one of the few who’s time and money is actually worth something.

Sony showed off Spider-man Miles Morales (which admittedly looks great, but its also coming to PS4 and I own a PS4 Pro at the moment. The same can be said about Horizon Forbidden West which will also be on PS4. They showed off Call of Duty, a game that will be released on all platforms, Hogwarts Legacy (also multi-platform). This is the same for Devil May Cry Special Edition, Oddworld: Soulstorm and Resident Evil Village. If Five Nights at Freddy’s and Fortnite are your reasons for buying a new console then you’re seriously lacking brain cells.
Literally the only new exclusives we learned about were Final Fantasy XVI and God Of War Ragnarok. Neither of which has a release date and one was just a name splash with no other details other then the majestic voice of Christopher Judge. How is it that with so little to offer on the next generation of a console has built so much hype? Quite frankly I don’t know the answer to that particular question. What I do know is that most are just excited because their brand made a new shiny toy and they want it even if that toy won’t actually be usable for months after purchase.
