As a HUGE Nintendo fan until the release of the Nintendo WII in 2007. So i must say i wasn’t to interested in the WII U until i heard rumors of a Zelda – WindWaker HD remake. Once it was official i started doing some investigating and research about this new console and it’s pro’s and con’s. Well after hearing about how i could play full games just on the hand held device while my wife could watch a movie. I couldn’t believe it took this long for a actual TV console to be TV and hand held. After deciding that SOMEDAY i would be getting the WII U i set out to learn more of this WindWaker HD remake. I learned that they would be releasing a Collectors Edition with a Limited Edition Ganon Figure and a Collectors Edition Strategy guide. So without hesitation i went to my local game store and put a reserve on both the Collectors Edition game and figure and Collectors Guide. Well Yesterday 10/4/13 They were released. And you may be finding yourself asking why and how does this lead to a “Initial Nintendo WII U Review” well once arriving back home i was more than shocked to find out that my wife decided we should jump at the opportunity to get the Limited Collectors Edition Zelda WindWaker HD Console with Download codes for Hyrule Historia, and WindWaker HD as well.

Upon getting the console home i opened it up and while doing so i also made a short video of me unboxing it and describing what i saw.

After unboxing my NEW console i went upon setting it up and figuring out how to charge the Zelda GamePad

Which i must say is by far one of the coolest things i’ve see in a long time. When i first laid my eyes on it, it brought back fond memories of opening the collectors edition of OoT (Ocarina of Time) and Majora’s Mask and seeing the holographic label on there. But the sad part was it would take all night now to charge.

Upon waking the following morning i jumped out of bed and “rolled” HiYA Hut KYIIIIKE (if you got that your AWESOME!) Cause everyone knows rolling is faster then running. Once i arrived at the Controller of destiny. Pressed the power Button

Once i got the Initial Setup it came up to the Mii Section which if you don’t know what a Mii is it’s like an avatar that  can be incorporated into certain games.

Once i had completed the Mii making process i FINALLY got to the main home screen which i found to be amazing. The TV not only has things on it but the GamePad offers other features as well.

Once i got to the Main Menu i was so excited to download my free download of WindWaker HD and Hyrule Historia So i proceeded to the Network Connection to Establish my Wifi Connection

After which i proceeded Nintendo shop and was informed there was a system update. But not just a small 5 minute system update O NO it had to be an hour long update.

Then after what seemed to be a life time!

So after what seemed like FOREVER for the system updates now i have to wait for my 2 free downloads as well. So i logged into the Nintendo Shop once more entered my Promo Code’s and waited while downloaded.

After downloading and installing those 2 AMAZING items i was reminded i had all my Original Wii content i needed transferred. Upon reading how to do this i was amazed by the little video it plays and i snapped this video.

After which i went to Wii Menu and saw all my downloaded games and game saves.
After all the setting up, system updates, time on the Nintendo Shop, and Transfer of Wii to Wii U i must say that i have much higher hopes for the Wii U than i ever could of expected and it has already out done its self compared to the Original Wii. The smoothness the Gamepad brings to the picture not to forget the awesome way it can control the TV and power of not only the TV but of the Satellite Box or Cable Box. Although i haven’t played with all the installed perks it has i have gone through a few and found out i can Stream DirecTV right on to my Gamepad with out hassle.

I Love the system to this point and i’m sure i will love it for some time. It  has brought back the Warm feeling that Nintendo had brought me until the Original Wii. I am excited  and optimistic for this consoles future if all the old Nintendo fan boy’s/girl’s can get over the wreck that was the Wii.

    1. Correct. I am sorta picky that way. Let me explain. The GameCube was great had Zelda games Mario kart double dash and Many other eye catching games. I feel as though the Wii just sorta dropped that I feel they tried to reclaim it at the end. But I am excited with the games that are out and will be coming out for the Wii U
