Sony’s PLAY 2015

Remember Xbox’s great program, Summer of Arcade? Microsoft would release a new, usually great downloadable title every week. Some great games came out of the Summer of Arcade, but for whatever reason, Microsoft decided to bury it.

Sony has done some graverobbing, and today launches PLAY 2015. Every Tuesday starting today, July 21, a new title will be released in the PlayStation store in the PLAY series. Today, the epic Journey is released, the game that pairs you with random strangers online as you search a mysterious desert for a mysterious goal in the distance. Next week, the minimalist N++ will be released, where you play as a ninja in a fast-paced sci-fi world, Next is the gorgeously stylized Galak-Z featuring a bullet-hell shooter with vivid 90’s style anime graphics. Finishing the series is the Vanishing of Ethan Carter style exploration game called Everybody’s Gone to The Rapture.

Just like the Summer of Arcade, Sony’s PLAY 2015 will give incentives to those who purchase the games in the series. Playstation Plus subscribers will receive a 20% discount when pre-ordering these games, and if you buy 2 or more, you will receive a 10% off coupon good for ANY game in the PlayStation Store.

Are you looking forward to any of the games in PLAY 2015? I’d love to hear what you’re getting in the comment section, and as always, you can hear me talk about these and other games on the Plug and Play podcast.
