Introduction to the 12-Days of Anime, Version: Ken!

ao no xmas

It’s the most wonderful tiiiime of the yeeaar!

Yes, everyone, it’s Christmas time, the time for giving, joy, love, and peace.  Sure that’s all nice and dandy, but there’s something else that this season brings:  A MUCH NEEDED BREAK FROM THE STRESSES AND CONVOLUTED RESTRAINTS OF SCHOOL, if only for a moment.

And with said much-needed break comes more free time, and what better way to spend my precious vacation-time than with watching a whole bunch of new anime and writing a bunch of articles about each one of them?

Well, ok I can name of a dozen or so things that I can do BESIDES watching anime, but it’s a pretty good start.

Happy 008

So you may or may not have heard of the “12-days of Anime”, where various members of the online anime editorial community, either on YouTube or on their editorial sites,  do a countdown or a list of some sorts highlighting anime from this year for each day counting towards Christmas day, starting from December the 13th, generally speaking.  However, I can’t exactly do any sort of list, as I have not seen too many shows from this year (if you can remember, there was a 5-month hiatus period during the beginning of the year where I didn’t watch almost any anime at all).

So, I thought to myself, now that I have the time, what better way to remedy this than to watch a new anime every single day from the 14th leading up to the 25th, and make an article about each one of them everyday?  I get to catch up to some anime, be it from 2015 or older, and have something to give to you guys for Christmas, since this is the season for giving after all and I’m a pretty generous guy.

Now, to make myself more clear on this endeavor, here are some ground “rules”, if you will:

  • I’m only watching the first few episodes (maybe 3, give or take) of any given series for these 12 days:  I’m not watching an entire series in one day, that’s just not my thing.  If I’m gonna give an honest first impression of a show, I’m gonna do it slowly and not rush things.  I might review some of the shows I watch eventually, but hopefully at some point I finish all of them.  But for the sake of time and for my own sanity, I’m only gonna give my immediate thoughts on the first few episodes of the shows only.
  • Most of the series that I’ll be watching will be from 2015, but there are exceptions:  I also plan to catch up on some anime that I should’ve watched already but for whatever reason I just didn’t, but I would most definitely watch a bunch of shows from this year, if only to get myself in-the-know with what has happened recently as I’ve been completely out-of-touch with a huge majority of this year’s seasonals.
  • These are only my immediate responses:  Do not take all of my opinions to heart for this particular gimmick.  As stated in the first condition, these are only my immediate thoughts on the shows in question and do not reflect what I think of the show as a whole, mainly because I have’t seen the show as a whole yet.  Feel free to disagree with what I say, but just bear this in mind.

This will be my first time doing something like this for Christmas, so please do bear with me if I seem a little off at times with whatever, although my writing has always been off anyways, so I guess you’ll have no trouble with that.  This is of course a work-in-progress and changes might happen along the way, but I will do my best to make sure that these articles are genuine, slightly humorous, and worth your time.
