PlayStation Plus games for May 2016

Like a drunk Easter bunny, PlayStation is swinging by your doorstep to leave a fresh batch of games for the PlayStation Plus faithful. What’s in our game basket this month? Well, we get a little angry Kratos, the chance to be a dictator on your own island, a fast swinging, fast shooting Bionic commando, and a title that’s just fun to say: LocoRoco Cocoreccho! There’s a few more in the basket, but let’s crack these eggs open and take a peek.

Tropico 5, PS4

Tropico 5 is a full-fledged city-building game based on the fictional island nation of Tropico.

Start your reign during colonial times, survive the World Wars and the Great Depression, be a dictator during the Cold War, and advance your country to modern times and beyond. Each member of El Presidente’s extended family is present on the island and may be appointed as a ruler, a manager, an ambassador or a general. Advance your nation by discovering new buildings, technologies and resources, and amass a global trade fleet and use your ships to secure trade routes to neighboring islands or world superpowers.

As El Presidente, guide the everyday life of your beloved Tropicans using a firm grip and ridiculous edicts, all presented with a heavy dose of tongue-in-cheek humor.

Table Top Racing: World Tour, PS4

Plus Subscribers are getting the brand new racing/combat game this month! Table Top Racing: World Tour is a high-octane combat racer from Nick Burcombe, the co-creator of the Wipeout series. Drive tiny cars armed with missiles and other crazy weapons through everyday household scenes, where paint cans and mops are obstacles. This one looks fun, and supports up to 8 player multiplayer.

Bionic Commando Rearmed 2, PS3

Capcom reimagined the first Bionic Commando Rearmed to the delight of fans of the original 8-bit NES game. This sequel continues the retro side-scrolling action with in an all new adventure. Equipped with his famous bionic arm, Nathan ‘Rad’ Spencer swings into danger to stop General Sabio from launching a deadly missile strike. Although still a 2D sidescrolling platformer, Bionic Commando Rearmed 2 adds modern touches like scrolling backgrounds, while nodding to the past with a very retro inspired soundtrack.

LocoRoco Cocoreccho!, PS3

Play as a butterfly using your Sixaxis/DualShock 3 controller, and guide the singing, bouncy LocoRocos to safety. Colorful and charming, fun, and best experienced this month-for free.

Switch Galaxy Ultra, PS4, PS Vita

Mix a little F-Zero and Wipeout, add a racetrack that looks like a cross between Mario Kart’s Rainbow Road and Guitar Hero’s on screen puzzle scroll, stir in some comic book style cutscenes and sci-fi spacey backgrounds, and I’ve got a recipe for a game I’m excited to CrossPlay on Vita and PS4.

God of War: Ghost of Sparta, PS Vita

Taking place after the original God of War, this portable adventure stars the ever angry Kratos haunted by his past once again unleashing his rage on any characters from Greek mythology that have the misfortune of standing in his way. Originally for PSP.
