This week while at PAX West 2018 Razer dropped three new products in their already expansive and high quality line with gamers in mind. Of course when I got the invite I couldn’t say no. In the hands on demo we got introduced to the Kraken TE, BlackWidow Elite & Mamba Wireless. Through out the entire hands on I was blown away by the Build Quality and Form Factor of each peripheral.
The newest wireless mouse from Razer packs a 5G optical sensor which of course comes with the Razer wireless technology that currently is leading the industry. The 5G optical sensor brings true 16,000 DPI and accuracy to 99.4% which like many of Razers products are currently leading the industry. 99.4% might not sound like much more than the standard 99.0% that competitors have but just remember that’s 2 more hits per 200 clicks.
Razer packs the Mamba with its proprietary frequency technology that makes sure you have just as stable of a connection wirelessly as you would wired. The day of killing wireless noobs is now over and it’s in major part to Razer with the battery pack that can last upwards of 50 straight hours before needing to be plugged in. If you’re all about that custom button life the Mamba has seven customizable buttons through the Razer Synapse 3 software.
Worried about the amount of clicking you may be doing in DOTA 2 or other games? The Mamba has a 50 million click switch to get you covered. Now you may be asking “How can I get this? When is it out?” and I’ll tell you it can be found on their site right now all for the low price of $99.99 usd. Don’t let that price tag fool you though this is not the standard $100 or less gaming mouse and I would gladly recommend this to anyone from entry level to Pro. The first thing that attracted my eyes to the BlackWidow Elite was the leatherette wrist rest. Not only does this set the keyboard visually on another level of sophistication and elegance but upon asking more I was pleasantly surprised. The BlackWidow Elite’s wrist rest is a fully optional attachment that quickly attaches through magnets to the base of the keyboard to give the user a choice. I know for myself there are times I love having a wrist rest when writing for our site or having a causal match online with our awesome community. On the other hand there are many times when I would love to ditch it and just have a keyboard alone. With the BlackWidow Elite you have best of both worlds.
This model will comes in three switch variations all with a 80 million keystroke rating. The keyboard is available in three Razer proprietary switches. The keyboard highlights an amazing and stylish take to its media controls sporting a dial for audio up and down that has a tactile feedback feel. The dial also features a button that can be fully customized as well to fit any need. Unlike previous keyboards the BlackWidow Elite doesn’t have dedicated macro keys but can fully programmed in Razer Synapse 3 software. Featuring the Razer Chroma backlighting with 16.8 million color options this keyboard is not only designed with quality and precision it looks gorgeous doing it. It features a USB 2.0 and audio pass through to free up more on your tower and sports a well designed cable routing. You may be asking yourself what the price tag on such an amazing and well designed professional keyboard may run you and the answer is a cool $169.99 which in my book with all these options and let alone the quality of the keyboard. The Kraken headset sports awesome new features such as cooling gel ear cushions for longer less sweaty gaming experiences. We’ve all been there after hours of gaming and you can feel moisture start inside the cushions. It’s never fun and Razer has the solution. The cushions also sport a awesome eyeglass channel that allows for glasses to be worn comfortably and not be noticed by those not wearing them. I must say I was very warm from being outside and putting on this headset not only felt amazing but I didn’t really wanna take them off.
The next major and most impressive addition is the USB dongle unlike any other competitor on the market. Razer brings to us gamers a truly immersive gameplay through the new THX Spatial Audio that is all packed in the dongle. THX Spatial Audio is a end to end audio solution that’s supported on all audio from stereo through 7.1. In short it takes the audio and enhances it to a 360 degree audio profile fully immersing you in the games you’re playing. It is unlike anything I’ve experienced and I’m excited to try it out on different games and genres from MMO to FPS down to the hottest Indie games that pride themselves on immersive audio.
The dongle also packs a punch to its competitors with the ability to adjust bass, in-game audio and chat audio on the fly with easy to find and control buttons to help you get that perfect sweet audio spot of boom and to help you tune out your annoying friends or boost your quiet ones if that’s really an issue.
After getting my hands on it and listening I was definitely expecting a mid to high price point but was extremely surprised when they said retail was $99.99. Now if you’ve followed our site or myself you know I test a bunch of headphones and I got to say I’ve never tried anything of this caliber before. This is a must have for any and all gamers. I know I just packed a lot into this article and I could of wrote about them individually but I feel that honestly even if you’re only in the market for a Keyboard, Mouse or maybe you need a new headset buying all three of these products together is the way to go. Razer has stayed true to their core beliefs that gamers deserve excellence, reliability and comfort and it shows in these three products. Through playing and looking these products over I feel it’s important to note they never once cut a corner on build quality or form factor.
