Wii U (games, games and more games!!!)

Nintendo’s Wii U has been overlooked by gamers and developers alike since the PS4 and Xboxone were announced. Most gamers are looking at it as a last generation console that will die when Sony and Microsoft’s next consoles launches later this year. however the thing is Nintendo plays a different ballgame from it’s competitors, and it has proved over and over that it works.
With more and more great looking games coming to Big N, it’s only a matter of time until people start taking this new console seriously. As gamers we all know that the most important thing is more and more great games.

Here is a list of some of reasons we at Button Smashers love the Wii U:

  1. The problem with the Wii U is it’s got no killer apps. There’s no game available at the moment that makes you want to go out and buy a unit just to play that game.

Even the list you posted, with the exception of Bayonetta, there’s nothing earth shatteringly awesome on it.

That said, because of how bad the Xbox1 has been made out to be, and MS inability to counter the bad PR, Nintendo have a huge chance to make inroads here. What they need to do is focus on getting some third party titles on the unit. for example get the new FF game on there. Or as they did for Bayonetta, pay for the development and get some exclusives of some long wanted sequels. It all comes down to how Nintendo move forward between now and when the xbox is released

    1. I disagree, seeing the new X as a huge reason to own the system, as with the Shin Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem crossover. Nintendo makes amazing first party titles, so if you buy a Nintendo console, you’ve come to expect new games in the same franchise over and over again, each with new gameplay mechanics. Sonic Lost World is another exclusive that could pull huge numbers for Nintendo.

      1. The problem is they aren’t exclusives. They could well be solid games, but since they, or variants of them, are available on other systems there’s no reason to go out an buy one.

For example, when Ni no Kuni was released on PS3 as an exclusive, it boosted sales of the PS3 for a while. Nintendo need to follow suite and bring some exclusive content that makes people sit up and pay attention, such as with Bayonetta. This is going to be hard for them since they’ve had a lot of bad press,

You said it yourself, those that buy the console KNOW what they’re going to get, they know all they’re going to get is iterations of games they’ve played for years, and there’s nothing wrong with that. The problem is none of these itterations have the power to pull in new core gamers. At the moment it’s a one horese show with just the PS4 leading the way. That dosent mean that Nintendo couldn’t turn it around and give sony a run for their money.

      2. As for Xenoblade, i’ve honestly never heard of it, even the first one. so that to me says it’s not going to be strong enough to pull in new people.
