One Piece unlimited World Red [3DS] is amazing

I only just started to play the game late last night, though I was hoping to have it earlier but my preorder from amazon did not arrive on time and the eshop was down all day on release day, and when it did pop back up it took a whole day just to download the game. Well its at this point that i’d usually say bugger to it and move on to my next review, but this is One Piece ladies and gentlemen.  I waited quite a while for this game to be ported to the US so a few hiccups won’t stop me.

So far I’ve only played stages in Punk hazard and alabaster, both look great on the 3DS. The graphics are a bit different from the other versions of the game, but that’s not really a bad thing. It looks a lot like the anime with beautiful cell shaded characters and fluid animations. For fans of the unlimited series you will feel right at home with this one. The moment I got Zoro that feeling of familiarity came home. His combos are very similar to the ones he had in unlimited cruise 2 with just a few variations. Most of all a lot of the systems that worked in the previous games are present in this one so don’t expect a huge learning curve, plus the tutorial is a big help. The only thing that is a bit off and I wonder why it is what it is, is the word system. They call everything words. what this means is that to get new movies you need to learn and equip the words that it belongs to. This sounded unique and new at first, but now after playing for a while I just see it as a way the developers tried to make something old seem new, and that’s just lame.

All in all I’m having fun. The voice acting is all there, so far I beat Crocodile and Caesar, so yeah I’m having fun. I’ll have a full review soon and I’ll be playing the Vita version as well next week when it releases digitally for that system. If you wish to know more about the game while I play then you can follow my twitter and Instaram, oh and thank you for reading 😉
