PlayStation Plus Free Games For June 2015

plusplusJune is almost here, and Sony has announced the 6 free games available to North American PlayStation Plus subscribers on June 2. The choices look a little better than last month, and there are many genres represented from tactical action stealth, challenging platforming, tower defense, FPS,  turn based strategy and retro shooters. Let’s dive in and see what Sony has to offer this month.

Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes (PS4)

This short Metal Gear Solid adventure puts Snake in a rescue mission on a Cuban military prison. It can be played through in about 2 hours, but it’s a great taste of the Metal Gear Solid universe if you aren’t sure you want to commit to the upcoming Phantom Pain.

Skulls of the Shogun: Bone-A-Fide Edition (PS4)

This turn based strategy game features armies of bony samurai hell bent on reclaiming their honor. Fast based, colorful, and with an often inappropriate sense of humor, this ain’t your grandpa’s strategy game.

zoo2

Super Exploding Zoo (PS Vita)

This defense game has you defend animal eggs in a zoo from hungry aliens with…exploding animals? I’ll have to try it out with the rest of you. Can also be played on PS4.

futuridium

Futuridium EP Deluxe (PS Vita)

I’m excited to try this one. A retro styled shooter with an great electronic soundtrack, this looks like a fun one to load up on the Vita. It’s also playable on PS4

Cloudberry Kingdom (PS3)

I’m going to try this one, but I don’t think I’ll stick with it too long. The developers spent several years developing an AI that generates random levels, and the videos I’ve seen of this 2D platformer show an insane amount of enemies on screen with a very narrow window of safety. If you’re up for a challenge, this one’s for you.

juarez

Call of Juarez: Gunslinger (PS3)

This is the game I’m most excited about. Featuring a bounty hunter with an imaginative memory, this light-hearted first person shooter has the unlikely story teller meeting several famous characters in the old west. My favorite thing about my first play through was when the narrator would say, “Wait, that’s not how it happened…” and the scene you just played would roll out in an entirely different way. It’s a short, funny game, and I recommend this one.

Well, that’s it for this month’s PlayStation Plus freebies! Which ones are you looking forward to? Let us know in the comments, and if you’d like to hear more about my thoughts on these and other games, please check out the Plug and Play podcast!
