THQ Nordic Announces Darksiders Genesis

Today THQ Nordic released a trailer for a new spinoff game in the iconic Darksiders series. Set before the first game, Darksiders Genesis will feature Horseman of the Apocalypse Strife for the first time in the series fighting heaven and hell alongside his brother War.

Darksiders Genesis is being developed by Airship Syndicate, founded by former Vigil Games employees, the company who developed the first Darksiders. In a departure from the first three games, Genesis will be a top down action RPG in the vein of Diablo. While there will still be puzzles and the devastated hellish landscapes the series is known for, this shift in perspective is an exciting change for the series and lends itself to the frenetic action that would be expected from playing as a dual pistol wielding Nephilim. Although not explicitly stated yet, it seems likely that this could be the first co-op game in the series, with one player spraying bullets as Strife, and the other wielding War’s blades.

Still reeling from the events on Eden, WAR and STRIFE have been given a new assignment — LUCIFER, the enigmatic and deceptive demon king, has been plotting to upset the Balance by granting power to master demons throughout Hell.  War and Strife must hunt down these masters, gather information, and ultimately fight their way through a tangled, demonic conspiracy that threatens to forever upset the Balance and unravel all of creation.

Darksiders Genesis will be released on XBOX One, PlayStation 4, Steam, Nintendo Switch, and the all new Google Stadia
