30-Day Anime Challenge! (Day 5): Anime You’re Ashamed You Enjoyed

I’ll be honest with you guys and whoever created this 30-day list:

This question is total BS in my opinion.

Why?

Well, for starters, it doesn’t make sense:  why would you be ashamed of something you enjoyed?

Is there anything shameful in enjoying something that social convention dictates that you shouldn’t?

Moreover, why is there an existing social convention that dictates what shows you can and cannot like?

………………………………………..

Ok, hentai, maybe, sure.

In my professional and superior opinion, you shouldn’t be ashamed of your tastes in anime.  Anime is a medium with a wide variety of genres that all have the same purpose:  so that fans of the genre can enjoy the shows.  If you are a fan and enjoy the shows under that genre, then you should be happy and appreciate what you enjoyed.  Likewise, if you don’t like the genre, then you’re free to not watch anything from it; HOWEVER, and this is important: it does not give anyone the right to discriminate ANYONE who loves ANY show from that genre.

Therefore, in respects to the people who get discriminated on just because they enjoy shonen, or shoujo, or even ecchi, I shall skip this question by saying that I am not ashamed, NOR do I regret, ANY and ALL anime that I have seen.  I’ve had my share of shows from different genres, and I enjoyed a HUGE percentage of them, ergo I do not feel any shame in admitting that YES I enjoyed Naruto, YES I enjoyed High School of the Dead, YES I enjoyed Love Live, YES I enjoyed Free!.

And to all you guys out there who ostracize people because of their likes, dislikes, and overall preferences:  I’m not amused.

No one should experience this kind of discrimination, because aren’t we all anime fans?  We are all free to have our own tastes and, subsequently, no one should shove their taste into other people’s asses if they don’t want to.  But discriminating other otakus because of their anime preferences is unacceptable and is a source of deplorable conflict between anime fans.

Please respect your fellow otaku.  They are all fans, just like me and you.

See you all in Day 6.
