We want Sword Art Online: Lost Song

As fans of anime we like to experience more of the worlds of those series we like as much as we can whenever possible, especially when they are presented in a way in which we can directly interact with the characters we know and love. So when games like Sword Art Online: Last Song get announced some of us tend to get pretty excited. Sadly we do not always get these games over here in the west, especially when previous titles in that particular series are not well received.

So who’s fault is it when this happens?

Who’s is to blame for the lack of localization support for these titles that some of us want so much?

Well let’s just say 75% is the developer’s fault and 25% are the fans. Why I say this is because I believe that if a developer makes a great solid game, then those that like that genre will get it, and maybe some outside of that fold will also find interest in it as well. It also hurts those fans when the rare title makes its way over the pond and its priced super high because the dev wants to make more money on less units. This deters some potential buyers and ultimately hurts the brand of that game more than it helps it.

The 25% for the fans is for those fans that do not support the titles that they like with their money for what ever reason. I however always try to support the developers of the games I like when ever possible. Example: When the First Inazuma Eleven game made its way to the 3DS in the North American region, I bought 2 copies, why? Well because I played it before on DS and knew that I wanted to support the developers so that they would port the other games in the series over to the US region as well. Sadly there are many so called fans of numerous video game series that do not do this. Some just don’t get the games out right, while others just pirate them. Practices like these hurts the industry, the Developers and “US” the paying customers. If you like it and can afford it buy it!

Anywho the reason I wrote that previous paragraph is because I believe that the next Sword Art game should be ported to the west, but I doubt it will be ported because of the mixed reception that the previous Sword Art game got. According to sales the game sold reasonably well for a Vita game, but with all the mixed reviews out there about it, including ours, I doubt that the developers may be confident enough to release another Sword Art game here in the west, especially if its half arsed. From what I’ve seen Sword Art Online: the Lost Song looks like an amazing game and I hope that it gets a western release. As of this article, Sword Art Online: Lost Song is only scheduled for release in Japan, Hong Kong, Southeast Aisa and Taiwan. There is no word yet on a NA, or EU release for the game.

  1. I hope that this game comes over here and is better than the last one. I never finished the previous title as it is too long and the combat wasn’t my cup of tea. The less said about the translation the better.

      1. Yeah he dodged the bullet by conning me into buy it!! So i had to suffer it!

The Combat isn’t to bad IMO, the problem is with the translation, it was so bad at times that you had no idea what it was talking about. Given how different the combat system was in the game you needed a clear translation.

Now, as for the game, i’m all for them bringing it to the west, but only if they do a proper translation and not the google translate they did last time. Especially given that the game was over priced at launch, and still is.

  2. I did no such thing. I simply suggested you choose that one while I choose akiba’s trip. Sadly it just so happened that I got the better game :p
