From Viz Media, the wonderful company that brought to North America all your favorite manga, such as Naruto, Death Note, Assassination Classroom, Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure, and many many more, comes their newest addition to their ever-growing library: The Heiress and the Chaffeur.
Viz announced on Thursday, April 28, that they will finally be adding the 2-volume shoujo manga The Heiress and the Chaffeur, created by Keiko Ishihara (mangaka of It’s All Calculated and Strange Dragon), on May 3rd. It will be available as a physical copy (with an MSRP of $9.99 U.S. / $12.99 CAN) and in a digital form on VIZManga.com and the VIZ Manga App (iOS and Android), as well as from the Nook, Kobo, Kindle, iBooks, comiXology, and GooglePlay stores.) It is rated ‘T’ for Teens and will be released under the Shojo Beat imprint.
Synopsis: At an all-girls school during the Taisho era of Japan, rumors swirl that heiress Sayaka Yoshimura is having a forbidden love affair with her chauffeur, Shinobu Narutaki! Sayaka scoffs at the rumors, but could a romance between master and servant actually be brewing?
In the opening volume, Sayaka wears a crimson ribbon that signals she is at the top of her class, and her classmates all revere her. So when Narutaki ignores decorum and breaks school rules to protect Sayaka, will she stand by him or dismiss him as the school demands?
Amy Yu, editor for Viz Media, doles out compliments to this particular shoujo manga, stating that, “Creator Keiko Ishihara’s beautiful love story will captivate readers who love strong characters and romance. Social class division keeps the protagonists apart, but their unique bond perseveres against the odds. Shojo manga fans will also appreciate the crisp artwork and Taisho-period costumes.”
An intriguing setting?
With a resume like that, The Heiress and the Chauffeur seems to be another amazing Viz pickup, so look forward to it at your local bookstore or on Viz’s manga app.
